1. Formation:

FC Porto was formed in the year 1893, they soon entered a period of inactivity due to their president losing enthusiasm of the club. The club was reactivated in 1907, at which point they started entering a number of local competitions and regional championships.


2. trophies and the 'Big Three':

FC Porto is one of the most successful club in Portugal along with Benfica and Sporting, FC Porto has won 28 Liga NOS titles, 16 Taca de Portugal titles and 23 Supertaca titles and FC Porto is the only Portuguese club has won more European tiles such as 2 European Cup/UEFA Champions League titles, their first European Cup title era was in 1987 final when FC Porto beat Bayern Munich 2-1 and most famous was in UEFA Champions League final 2004 where Jose Mourinho won his first Champions League title in his career which FC Porto beat Monaco 3-0 in the final, also Porto won 2 Europa League titles and 1 UEFA Super cup.


3. Nickname:

FC Porto is nicknamed 'Azul e Branco' (Blue and White) and 'Dragoes' (Dragons) as the dragon can be seen in the top of the club's crest.

4. Estadio do Dragao:

Estadio do Dragao was built to provide FC Porto with a modern home and Euro 2004 with one of the main reasons why the stadium was re-built to replace the old stadium called Estadio das Antas. The stadium was estimated to have cost €98 million, it officially opened in 16 November 2003 with a friendly between Porto and Barcelona (2-0), which was the debut of Lionel Messi in Barcelona's first team.


5. Rivalry between Benfica:

FC Porto and Benfica had a long history of rivalry, this game is called O Classico which is one of the biggest games in the Primeira Liga, first meeting between the two clubs was in a exhibition game in 28 April 1912; Porto lost 2-8 against Benfica. Porto had to wait 8 years to win its first Classico.


6. Rivalry between Sporting:

FC Porto and Sporting also had a long history of rivalry, their first league meeting was in 1934, this was the year when the Portuguese Primeira Liga was formed which Porto beats Sporting 4-2 in their first meeting.


7. Most successful coaches:

Tomislav Ivic, Jose Mourinho, and Andre Villas-Boas are the most successful managers the club ever had, both Ivic and Mourinho helped FC Porto to win 2 European Cup/UEFA Champions League titles and Andre Villas-Boas famously led Porto to their second UEFA Europa League title in 2011 against Braga.


8. Taca da Liga:

FC Porto is the only big club in Portugal that hasn't won the Taca da Liga, as for their rivals Benfica and Sporting won it; Benfica with 7 titles and Sporting with 2 titles.


9. Arrival of Iker Casillas:

Iker Casillas arrived in 11 July 2015 after 16 years with Real Madrid, he made his Porto debut on 15 August 2015 with a 3-0 win over Vitoria de Guimaraes. In May 2019, Iker suffered a an acute myocardial infarction during training and he is still recovering.
10. Liverpool:

 FC Porto had not beaten Liverpool before in their history, the first meeting between the two clubs was in 8 March 2001 in the UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League it finished 0-0 in Portugal, Porto's biggest defeat against The Reds was a 0-5 in the round of 16 at the Estadio do Dragao in the Champions League first leg. Which makes 0 wins, 3 drawn and 5 loses for Porto against Liverpool.
